This project is a meditation on individual freedom, on the fragile boundary between democracy and various forms of totalitarianism. We are constantly threatened by the temptation of cornering the truth, by the tendency to converge on uniform thinking. The survival of freedom of thinking is now modulated by technological evolution with its potential to become the means to control and abuse fundamental human rights. New concepts and functionality such as Face Recognition combined with Personal Rating and Social Credit Systems can become extremely dangerous to the future society. In trying to offer solutions to these threats, the value of memory and recall represents the underlying thread of these works, a form of resistance to a Black Mirror type of reality.
The Augmented Reality layer provided through the ARTAR application invites the audience to new themes of reflection, it completes the image and the shape, it works as a key or a code to ideas and stories hidden behind the physical images.
